In case you have not noticed, the exclusive Malaysian Doctors forum and networking site, fondly known as Dobbs (Doctors Only Bulletin Board System), has been upgraded to a more modern social networking community with built-in forums. We have moved the doctors from the old MMR forums to the new site http://mydobbs.net/

Some Q&A about the New Dobbs:

Q) I’m a Malaysian doctor but working overseas, can I join Dobbs?
A) You’re most welcome to. In the MMC Registration number field in the registration form, please fill in your equivalent eg GMC or Australian Registration number

Q) Does it cost me anything?
A) Dobbs is completely free. Absolutely no subscription required.

Q) What are the benefits of joining Dobbs?
A) You get to meet your fellow Malaysian doctors online, network with colleagues and discuss with them on a broad range of topics. Dobbs has multiple Groups within the community allowing doctors to discuss subjects such as interesting case presentations, medical education and training, policies affecting the profession (e.g. 1Care, PHFSA etc.), financial matters, and even hobbies like photography etc. The discussions are all private since Dobbs is accessible only to registered users who are medical practitioners.

Q) There’s already Facebook, why join Dobbs?
A) If you value your privacy, I wouldn’t share too much on Facebook. Dobbs on the other hand is a closed community and none of your private information is shared with any third party whatsoever. In addition to the privacy of being a site accessible only to registered members, Dobbs forums are organised around Groups which are capable of further privacy settings e.g. Private groups which can be joined only by separate invitation from Group administrators – for example a special interest group by a sub-specialty such as Orthopaedic users.

Q) I’m already a member of the old Dobbs, how do I join the new Dobbs?
A) We sent out invitations to all Dobbers registered with the old forum. You may not have received the invitation because your email is out of date or the invitation may have gone into your Bulk email folder (please check there). You can try retrieving your password using your existing dobbs username or email by using the reset password link here. If that does not work, then please re-register using the form in the new Dobbs.

Q) Is Dobbs affiliated to any organisation?
A) No. We are a privately sponsored community up and running for more than 12 years now. It is a project to promote online interaction amongst Malaysian doctors, and proudly sponsored by the Malaysian Medical Resources. We are not affiliated to and not influenced by any Malaysian Government department, agency nor are we affiliated with any Malaysian professional organisation (eg MMA, FPMPAM) though doctors from the public and private sector are all welcome to join Dobbs.

Dobbers are currently talking about subjects such as 1Care, New medical schools, HOs being too soft, Tech stuff like smartphones and broadband options, sharing interesting Case discussions and more. Join in the conversation and network with your Malaysian doctors today at http://mydobbs.net . It’s free!
