WordPress 3.4 has been released. There are many changes since the last version. Here are some of the new features that are important for bloggers like you and me.
Live Theme Preview — Now you can customize WordPress theme before it has been activated. For themes that support the feature, you can change colors, backgrounds, and custom header image with flexible sizes.
Easy Twitter embed — Want to include tweets in your blog posts? No more copy and paste super-long twitter embed code. Simply copy and paste the tweet’s URL and WordPress 3.4 will automatically change it to the beautiful embedded tweet. Check out other supported services here.
HTML support in image caption — WordPress 3.4 now allows you to use simple HTML code in image’s caption. It is useful for adding image credits and licensing details.
XML-RPC API updates — The WordPress API is mainly used by 3rd party applications to communicate with your blog, example: blog editor software. The new update adds support for post thumbnails, custom post types and taxonomies, as well as many bug fixes.
Hopefully existing blog editors will be updated to make use of the new API. Maybe, we will see official WordPress blog editor for Windows/Mac soon? (since it is available for mobile now)
