Apple has removed YouTube app from latest iOS 6 beta. Google is working on a new YouTube app.
In the latest Apple iOS 6 Beta 4, YouTube app has been removed. The app was one of the pre-loaded app in the Apple mobile operating system since 2007.
Apple issued a statement to TheVerge acknowledging the removal:
Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.
On the other hand, YouTube spokeperson told Engadget that:
We are working with Apple to make sure we have the best possible YouTube experience for iOS users.
The YouTube app will be available on Apple App Store. We think it will get more frequent updates from Google than the currently outdated YouTube app in iOS.
Apple also replaced Google Map in iOS with its own map database.
